Cuando la gracia nos invita
Día 4
“Acerquémonos, pues, confiadamente al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro.” Hebreos 4:16
De niños, ¡qué libertad se sentía cuando, teniendo que comunicar o confesar algo incómodo a nuestros padres o a una figura familiar de autoridad, en vez de ocultarlo o reprimirlo por temor, terminábamos comunicándolo! Era posible que supiéramos que nuestros padres no apoyarían mucho ese “algo” que no fuera algo que celebrar y/o que tuviera consecuencias. Aun así, siempre terminábamos yendo a ellos y abriéndonos, pues conocíamos la naturaleza del amor que nos tenían.
Hay pocos sentimientos o sensaciones que se comparen al poder acercarnos a alguien y abrir nuestro corazón de manera honesta, sin el temor de ser rechazados, malinterpretados o juzgados.
Hebreos 4:16 nos recuerda y nos invita a meditar en lo que acabo de compartir. Y al hacerlo, nos llenamos de paz y de mucha esperanza al saber que contamos con un Padre y un Mediador a quien podemos correr sin pena, vergüenza ni temor.
Muchas veces experimentamos situaciones o temporadas en las que no nos sentimos merecedores de orar o de acercarnos a nuestro Padre. Nuestros pensamientos errados nos llevan a verlo como un padre enojado o endurecido. Y si bien es cierto que Dios no siempre celebrará cada paso o acción que tomemos, y que nos llama a vivir una vida de constante examinación y arrepentimiento, aun así Él no solo espera, sino que desea que vengamos a Él, conversemos y presentemos esas situaciones, para que con Su gran poder nos guíe y obre en ellas, en nosotros y en nuestros corazones.
Mucho de ese no querer acercarnos a Él proviene de mentiras que creemos y de no conocer Su verdadero carácter y naturaleza. Y aunque pienso que a Dios no le conoceremos en Su totalidad, sé que al pasar tiempo en Él y en Su Palabra, esas mentiras infundadas son reemplazadas por la verdad, devolviéndonos la libertad de venir a Él sin importar lo que estemos atravesando.

Señor, sabemos el gran privilegio que es tener acceso directo a Ti y cuánto todo nuestro ser Te anhela y Te necesita. Te damos gracias, Jesús, porque a través de Tu sacrificio nos hiciste hijos. Espíritu Santo, ayúdanos a recordar que nuestro Padre siempre está dispuesto, atento y deseoso de recibirnos, escucharnos y guiarnos; y que, como nos recuerda Romanos 8:38–39, nada ni nadie nos podrá separar jamás del amor de Dios en Cristo Jesús. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.

When grace invites us
Day 4
“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
As children, how much freedom we felt when, having to communicate or confess something uncomfortable to our parents or to a familiar authority figure, instead of hiding it or suppressing it out of fear, we finally spoke up!
We might have known that our parents would not fully approve of that “something,” that it wasn’t something to celebrate, and/or that it might have consequences. Even so, we always ended up going to them and opening our hearts, because we knew the nature of the love they had for us.
Few feelings or experiences compare to being able to approach someone and open our hearts honestly, without fear of being rejected, misunderstood, or judged.
Hebrews 4:16 reminds us of and invites us to meditate on this very truth. And as we do, we are filled with peace and great hope, knowing that we have a Father and a Mediator to whom we can run without shame, embarrassment, or fear.
Many times, we experience situations or seasons in which we do not feel worthy to pray or to draw near to our Father. Our mistaken thoughts lead us to see Him as an angry or hardened Father. And while it is true that God will not always celebrate every step or action we take, and that He calls us to live a life of continual self-examination and repentance, even so, He not only waits for us, He desires that we come to Him, talk with Him, and present those situations to Him, so that by His great power He may guide us and work in them, in us, and in our hearts.
Much of our reluctance to draw near to Him comes from lies we believe and from not knowing His true character and nature. And although I believe we will never know God fully, I know that as we spend time in Him and in His Word, those unfounded lies are replaced by truth, restoring our freedom to come to Him no matter what we are going through.

Prayer
Lord, we recognize the great privilege it is to have direct access to You, and how deeply our entire being longs for and needs You. We thank You, Jesus, because through Your sacrifice You have made us children of God. Holy Spirit, help us remember that our Father is always willing, attentive, and eager to receive us, listen to us, and guide us; and that, as Romans 8:38–39 reminds us, nothing and no one will ever be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
