Recuerda su fidelidad

“Pero algo más me viene a la memoria, lo cual me llena de esperanza: Por el gran amor del Señor no hemos sido consumidos y su compasión jamás se agota. Cada mañana se renuevan sus bondades; ¡muy grande es su fidelidad! Me digo a mí mismo: «El Señor es mi herencia. ¡En él esperaré!». Bueno es el Señor con quienes esperan en él, con todos los que lo buscan.” Lamentaciones 3:21-25 NVI
Una de mis escrituras favoritas en la Biblia comienza de una manera bastante deprimente, triste, sin una gota de esperanza. El profeta Jeremías escribe Lamentaciones 3 desde un lugar de profundo dolor. Jeremías fue testigo de la caída de su ciudad, Jerusalén, del sufrimiento de su pueblo y de las consecuencias de una desobediencia prolongada. Él no ocultó su dolor delante de Dios; al contrario, lo derramó con honestidad.
Al leer todo el pasaje, quizás te preguntes o te cuestiones por qué escogí un texto tan deprimente, pero hay un cambio en su tono. Es como si, mientras Jeremías escribe, algo viniera a su mente y sus palabras pasaran de la desesperación a la esperanza:

Jeremías recuerda quién es Dios. Reconoce que el sufrimiento es real y pesado, pero decide traer a su memoria la misericordia, la fidelidad y la compasión de Dios.
Esto nos enseña algo muy importante: la fe no ignora el dolor; la fe recuerda a Dios en medio de él.
Jeremías nos recuerda que la disciplina de Dios nunca tiene como propósito destruirnos. Aun cuando la vida se siente abrumadora, la misericordia de Dios sigue activa. Cada nuevo amanecer es una prueba de que Él no nos ha abandonado.
En este nuevo año, quiero retarme a mí misma, a ti, a nosotros, a hacer lo siguiente:
· Ser honestos con Dios acerca de nuestro dolor — Él puede manejarlo.
· Tomar tiempo para examinar nuestro corazón y volver a Él cuando sea necesario.
· Cuando las circunstancias se sientan oscuras, elegir recordar la fidelidad de Dios
Esperar en el Señor no es fácil, pero Lamentaciones 3 nos asegura que Dios no rechaza para siempre. La esperanza crece cuando confiamos más en Su carácter que en nuestras circunstancias.
Oración
Señor, gracias porque Tu misericordia nunca falla, aun cuando la vida se siente pesada. Ayúdame a confiar en Ti en medio de la espera, a volver a Ti con un corazón humilde y a recordar que Tu fidelidad es más grande que mi dolor. Renueva hoy mi esperanza. Amén.

Remember his faithfulness

“Yet this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion never fails. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.’ The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him,to the one who seeks Him.”Lamentations 3:21–25 (NIV)
One of my favorite passages in the Bible begins in a very depressing way—sad, without a single drop of hope. The prophet Jeremiah writes Lamentations 3 from a place of deep pain. Jeremiah witnessed the fall of his city, Jerusalem, the suffering of his people, and the consequences of prolonged disobedience. He did not hide his pain from God; on the contrary, he poured it out honestly before Him.
As you read the entire passage, you might wonder or question why I chose such a depressing text, but there is a shift in its tone. It is as if, while Jeremiah is writing, something comes to his mind and his words move from despair to hope:
“Yet this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassion never fails. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness! I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.’”
Jeremiah remembers who God is. He acknowledges that suffering is real and heavy, but he chooses to bring to mind the mercy, faithfulness, and compassion of God.
This teaches us something very important: faith does not ignore pain; faith remembers God in the midst of it.
Jeremiah reminds us that God’s discipline is never meant to destroy us. Even when life feels overwhelming, God’s mercy remains active. Every new sunrise is proof that He has not abandoned us.
In this new year, I want to challenge myself, you, all of us, to do the following:
Be honest with God about our pain — He can handle it.
Take time to examine our hearts and return to Him when necessary.
When circumstances feel dark, choose to remember God’s faithfulness.
Waiting on the Lord is not easy, but Lamentations 3 assures us that God does not reject us. Hope grows when we trust His character more than our circumstances.
Prayer
Lord, thank You because Your mercy never fails, even when life feels heavy. Help me to trust You while I wait, to return to You with a humble heart, and to remember that Your faithfulness is greater than my pain. Renew my hope today. Amen.
