Fe a pesar del silencio

Día 8

Ve y reúne a todos los judíos que están en Susa, para que ayunen por mí. Durante tres días no coman ni beban ni de día ni de noche. Yo, por mi parte, ayunaré con mis doncellas al igual que ustedes. Cuando cumpla con esto, me presentaré ante el rey, por más que vaya en contra de la ley. ¡Y, si perezco, que perezca! Esther 4:16

El libro de Esther es una enseñanza del trabajo tras las cortinas de Dios. En Esther nunca se menciona el nombre de Dios o vemos a Dios hablar directamente, dándonos la enseñanza de que, aunque no escuchemos Su voz, Él siempre está obrando. Nos hemos acostumbrado a recibir “señales” y actos grandes que nos recuerdan que Dios nos acompaña, pero la realidad es que hay periodos de silencio y aparente distancia.

Esther 4:3 En cada provincia adonde llegaban el edicto y la orden del rey, había gran duelo entre los judíos, con ayuno, llanto y lamentos. En el instante en que estaban en su peor momento, preocupados, viendo que eran atacados, ayunaron y se aferraron a su fe. Esto nos enseña que, en silencio y temor, nuestra fe en el Señor debería fortificarse, y podemos recordar todo lo bueno que Él ha hecho y seguirá haciendo.

Luego en Esther 4:14 Si ahora te quedas absolutamente callada, de otra parte, vendrán el alivio y la liberación para los judíos, pero tú y la familia de tu padre perecerán. ¡Quién sabe si no has llegado al trono precisamente para un momento como este! Esther recordaba que no existen las coincidencias y que ella fue escogida precisamente para este momento, para liberar a los judíos.

Dios nos da una oportunidad para compartir el amor de él por nuestro propio bien, porque a pesar de lo que sea, su palabra se cumplirá, sin o con nosotros. Nuestro padre siempre cumple, aunque no lo veamos, Esther 6:13 es una garantía de que el plan de Aman de destrucción no se cumplirá, porque el Padre está obrando. El Señor deshace lo que está destinado para mal desde el principio por su palabra.

Esto lo vemos en el cumplimiento del pacto a través de la crucifixión y la resurrección de Jesús. En Esther recibimos una reflexión para nuestras vidas, que la destrucción y decepción pueden venir, pero siempre seremos protegidos por la gracia de Dios. Aunque no lo veamos, Dios sigue obrando y trabajando, habrá periodos de silencio, pero Dios siempre cambiará nuestro lamento en baile (Esther 8:15-16). El silencio de Dios nunca es ausencia.

Faith in the Midst of Silence

Day 8

“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.” Esther 4:16

The book of Esther teaches us about God’s work behind the scenes. In Esther, God’s name is never mentioned, teaching us that even when we do not hear His voice, He is always at work. We have become accustomed to receiving “signs” and great acts that remind us that God is always with us, but the reality is that there are seasons of silence and apparent distance.

Esther 4:3 says: “In every province to which the edict and order of the king came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping, and lamenting.” At the moment when they were at their worst—living in fear, seeing that they were under attack—they fasted and clung to their faith. This teaches us that in silence and fear, our faith in the Lord should be strengthened, and we should remember all the good He has done and will continue to do.

Then in Esther 4:14: “If you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther remembered that there are no coincidences and that she was chosen precisely for that moment, to deliver the Jews.

God gives us an opportunity to share His love for our own good, because no matter what, His word will be fulfilled—with or without us. Our Father always keeps His promises, even when we do not see it. Esther 6:13 guarantees that Haman’s plan of destruction would not succeed, because the Father is at work. The Lord undoes what is destined for evil from the beginning by His word.

We see this in the fulfillment of the covenant through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. In Esther we receive a reflection for our lives: destruction and disappointment may come, but we will always be protected by the grace of God. Even when we do not see it, God continues to work and move. There will be seasons of silence, but God will always turn our mourning into dancing (Esther 8:15–16). God’s silence is never His absence.
